The Hold

The Hold is the new home of the Suffolk Archives; connect with people of the past, explore the history of Suffolk and discover your own stories.

Located opposite the University of Suffolk Waterfront Building, The Hold safely houses the bulk of Suffolk’s nationally and internationally significant artefacts and archives; and is open for everyone to explore.


Discover the lives of Suffolk people from 1,000 years ago to now with virtual tours, public exhibitions, public workshops and private sessions; where you can piece together your own family tree through the Suffolk Archives collections.
